POND ISLAND--A woman allegedly cut her twelve-year-old daughter's hair off with a knife, stabbed her in the arm, attempted to choke her and pulled hair from the girl's scalp during a domestic incident at her home near the rear of La Petit Chateau on Pond Island around 1:00am on Saturday.
The girl was later photographed exiting the ambulance at St. Maarten Medical Center carrying a large clump of hair in her right hand. Also clearly visible were marks on her neck and face, as well as a wound to her left arm.
The child's grandmother reportedly prevented further injury to the victim.
Police have arrested the woman and are investigating the incident. Police spokesman Inspector Ricardo Henson did not have any further details regarding the incident up to press time, but The Daily Herald understands that a friend of the mother is at the centre of the domestic incident.
