MARIGOT--Cecilia Henry (19) was stabbed to death in French Quarter around 6:45pm yesterday, allegedly by another girl over a dispute about a bag with important documents.
The fatal incident took place close to the main pharmacy on the RN7 and drew a huge crowd of curious onlookers as Gendarmes arrived and sealed off the murder scene.
According to bystanders, there was a heated argument between Henry and the other girl, who accused Henry of stealing a bag containing valuable documents. They said the accuser had left the scene and returned with her mother, at which point Henry was stabbed fatally. It was not clear whether the accuser or her mother had stabbed Henry, but a knife was used in the attack.
Henry, born in St. Kitts, was from French Quarter. She would have been 20 years old next month.
The suspects (mother and daughter) are from the St. Georges area and reportedly are of Haitian origin. They were being sought by the Gendarmes last night.
According to a reliable medical report obtained last night, Henry was stabbed about five times and died of stab wounds in the right ear.
This latest murder brings the number of homicides on the French side up to seven so far this year.
