Permanent Committee meets with library today

PHILIPSBURG--Parliament's Permanent Committee of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Affairs will meet today, Wednesday with representatives of the Philipsburg Jubilee Library starting at 3:00pm in the General Assembly Chamber of Parliament House.

Members of Parliament (MPs) who are part of the committee will be briefed about the state of affairs with the library, future plans, and additional tasks as the national library of the country and government funding.

The possibilities for the library to organize its own fundraising campaigns, financing of a new library building and the need for library branches in the districts will also be expounded on during the meeting.

MP Silvia Meyers-Olivacce (UP) chairs the committee of which MPs Leroy de Weever (DP) and Louie Laveist (NA) are members. The meeting is open to all MPs.

The permanent committee session is public and will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 20.
