Labour Dept and Chamber launch job vacancy survey

PHILIPSBURG--The Department of Labour in collaboration with the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry is currently conducting a Job Vacancy survey to gather information on current and projected openings in the business sector.

Information gathered in the survey, currently being distributed, will be compiled to give an accurate representation of the vacancies that exist. Businesses are required to provide a brief description of their business, provide information on current vacancies that exist and projected vacancies for the next three months.

They are also required to provide information "on any tasks or skills that would make employees taking up these positions more beneficial to the company, thus better equipped to attain the position and retain it long term," it was stated in a press release on Monday.

Labour Department Policy Adviser Selby Philip urged businesses selected to take part in the survey to take the time to complete it, as it will provide the department with valuable information. The department also urged businesses to return the survey forms as soon as possible.
