Two arrested for gun violation, one wanted for armed robbery


PHILIPSBURG--Police arrested J.R. (21) and A.J. (24) for illegal gun possession at a nightclub in Philipsburg on November 19 around 2:20am. One of them was discovered to be a wanted suspect in an open armed robbery investigation.

Central Police Dispatch directed a police patrol unit to the parking lot of a nightclub in Philipsburg to investigate a call concerning two men with handguns. The patrol arrived at the location and found a parked white car with two men in it.

On noticing the officers' approach, the driver attempted to slip away unnoticed, but stopped when the officers ordered him to do so. The passenger was ordered to exit the vehicle. On searching the suspects the officers found small plastic bags of marijuana.

With the men out of the car officers proceeded to search its interior. They found a Glock .45 calibre pistol and a .38 calibre Ind�stria Nacional de Armas/National Arms Industry (INA/NAC) revolver on the front passenger-seat and confiscated them. INA firearms are produced by a Brazilian military arms company.

The suspects were taken to the police station where they remain in custody for further investigation.
