Ogero workers say superiors abusing power

BEIRUT: The first signs of cracks within the state-run committee Ogero appeared Friday when the employees? committee blasted the management for what they called ?abuse of power.?In a communique to the press, Ogero?s employees union claimed that the management is ignoring the demands of the workers. It added that Ogero?s management is refusing to cooperate with Telecom Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui to improve the telecoms sector. The union also blasted the management for defending law 431 which in their opinion will inflict great harm on the employees and technicians. The union feared that the privatization of the telecoms sector which the management is seeking would prompt the new administration to lay off redundant workers in the future. The director general of Ogero Abdul Mouneum Youssif has been largely ostracized by Sehnaoui and his team for allegedly refusing to cooperate with the Telecoms Ministry.
