Narcotic-related prison admissions topped the list above other serious crime such as murder, rape and theft, during the whole of last year, official figures shown to Timesonline reveal.
During the year 2010 there was 13124 Narcotic-related prison admissions, an increase by 2208 when compared with the pervious year, the figures show.
During this same period there were 1230 theft-related prison admissions and 104 for murder.
The second highest orison admissions, 9145 were fort Excise violation, the figures revealed.
