Justice Sector to celebrate International Justice Day

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten's Justice Sector will be on display at the second annual International Justice Day celebration at Clem Labega Square in Philipsburg on July 17, a press release from the Ministry of Justice said.

The day will begin with a ceremony at 9:00am including a grand march of the uniformed services, a police demonstration and an information fair.

The general public is urged to come to the Info Fair beginning at 12:00pm to obtain pertinent immigration-related information, recruitment possibilities and educational materials. Tables manned by Justice staff representing each department, including the Coast Guard and the prison, will be available until 4:00pm.

This is a great opportunity for those requiring detailed information about immigration policies, students wanting to apply for jobs within the Justice Sector and others to ask questions, the press release said.

International Justice Day 2012, themed "Improving Capabilities, Strengthening Society," has given the Justice Ministry the opportunity to reflect on a year and a half of challenges and achievements.

The ceremony and info fair will give the public a chance to be up-close and personal with the many Coast Guard and police officers, Immigration personnel and Customs officers they encounter on a regular basis.

The ministry continues to be committed to serving the people of St. Maarten with pride and dedication, concluded the press release.
