Advanced motorcycle training for brigade

PHILIPSBURG--Members of the St. Maarten Police Force motorcycle brigade began advanced motorcycle training on Monday, July 2, a press release from police spokesman Inspector Ricardo Henson announced.

Training is given to two different groups of officers by Instructor/ Police Inspector Maikel Menning of the Netherlands and is provided by Procentrum in The Netherlands.

The motorcycle brigade could be seen conducting all types of escorts by day and by night during the past week.

As part of the training, the brigade was allowed to cross the border to the French side where the officers met with colleagues of the French-side motorcycle brigade. Members of the two brigades became acquainted with each other and are looking forward to a good working relationship.

The officers ended their training on Friday, July 6, and received certificates for this advanced training in the presence of Police Chief Commissioner Peter de Witte. He congratulated the participants and wished them much success in their careers.

The second group of officers started their training on Monday, July 9, and will end on Friday, July 13, the press release concluded.
