Karuna caders not used at "tactical or operational level" during war

Caders of the Karuna group were not used at a tactical or operational level by Government troops during the humanitarian operation in the north and east, Major General Chagi Gallage said today.

He said that even though they had shown willingness to join the troops, they were not allowed to do so.

Major General  Galle who headed Task Force 1 during the operations said the only time they were used was to man a withdrawal route after the all of Vakarai along the Batticalao – Trikonamadu route said.

The Major General made the comments in response to a question raised by an Indian delegate at the seminar on "Defeating Terrorism” being held in Colombo.
