Eight arrested for human trafficking

SIMPSON BAY--Eight men were detained by police for human trafficking Tuesday night after Coast Guard personnel moved in on a vessel in Simpson Bay and escorted it to the Simpson Bay police station.

Two police vans and three police cars were seen leaving the police station parking lot around 8:30pm. The eight men, including the captain and a crew member, were taken in the police vehicles.

Police spokesmen Ricardo Henson, Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos and Coast Guard official Roderick Gouverneur confirmed the arrest had taken place, but could not divulge any other information up to press time, due to unspecified circumstances.
