Romeo leads harbour delegation to Miami

MIAMI--Minister in charge of Harbour Affairs Romeo Pantophlet heads a delegation currently in Miami to meet with the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) and discuss with cruise line representatives strategy and pending projects.

The delegation met with FCCA President Michelle Paige and all the representative lines on Tuesday. The cruise lines expressed their issues and concerns such as land-based tour revenues and fuelling and its impact on itinerary planning.

Pantophlet and Paige discussed the possibility of hosting the FCCA Conference 2014, in St. Maarten. Curaçao will host the FCCA conference this year.

St. Maarten Harbour Group of Companies CEO Mark Mingo, Richard van de Mark who is in charge of Strategic Harbour Business Planning, and Government-Harbour Public Relations officer O'Neal Arrindell Jr. are also part of the delegation.

The minister helped to provide clarity on the future of Harbour plans and its projects. More meetings are planned for the week with the senior cruise executives to discuss the strategic agreements and the quality of the tourism product.

Presentations will also be held with the cargo business experts. The minister has ideas to increase business and will be discussing this with industry partners this week.
