PHILIPSBURG--The Junior Carnival Parade kicked off on Sunday, April 22, to a colourful and vibrant start. Parading through the streets of Philipsburg, diverse schools and troupes showed off their costumes and animated dance moves to a hyped-up Carnival audience lining the sides.
Seven groups participated in this year's Junior Carnival Parade. Winning first place for the troupes was Survivors with its theme of Rhythm of Steel Pan. Troupe Nathalie Parrotte came in second and Public Schools placed third.
The first prize for floats was awarded to Survivors along with the first prize for Individual Costume.
