Megayacht chef dies

Was found injured on beach

MULLET BAY--L.G. (37) the French Caucasian chef of the megayacht Cheetah Moon, which had been docked at the Simpson Bay Marina, died of his injuries after having been found "lying on the ground and seriously injured" on Mullet Bay Beach early Saturday morning.

After he was treated on the scene and taken to St. Maarten Medical Center it was determined that the severity of his injuries could not be dealt with on-island. Therefore, G. was flown out to Martinique that same day around 6:00pm. However, local police were notified around 8:00pm that he had succumbed to his injuries.

Police found G. alive on the beach, but he was not able to give them a statement.

The Forensic and Detective Departments are investigating particulars of this case and are requesting any persons who were in the Maho Reef/Mullet Bay area on February 26 between midnight and 6:00am, who may have information on this case to call the police at 542-2222 ext. 204 or 205 and give them this information.
