WILLEMSTAD--A second firearm was discovered in Curaçao's prison during cell searches following the shooting death of inmate Kenroy "Mana Mana" Stefania in cell bloc number four earlier this week. That is also where authorities found another gun inside the cell of detained suspect Rosa, who was arrested too.
As reported earlier, prisoners Chavel "Diablo" Waterfort and Frailon Pieter had already been held in connection with the fatal incident and a .38 calibre revolver confiscated. Both men are serving long-term sentences for murder and other violent crimes.
Stefania himself had killed fellow-inmate Isidro Valks in prison and saw another 16 years added to his term of incarceration. He had managed to escape from the Pointe Blanche Prison when transferred to St. Maarten in 2005, but was recaptured a month later.
During the latest cell searches drugs and other illicit items such as cell phones were also found. The exact motive for the killing remains unclear.
