MARIGOT--Armed bandits robbed the Baie Nettle Post Office around 8:20am Wednesday after smashing the dividing glass with a sledgehammer, the Gendarmerie reported.
Having broken the security glass, the two thieves held employees at gunpoint in the back office, but they managed to escape with only a small amount of money, as strict regulations stipulate that no large amounts of money are kept in the post offices and the employees had no access to the safe.
The robbers fled on a black scooter in the direction of Lowlands. The Gendarmerie report did not state if any employees had been harmed.
An investigation has been opened into the incident and the Gendarmerie is inviting any witnesses who have information that might be helpful in the investigation to call the emergency number 17.
