~ All candidates pass vetting ~
PHILIPSBURG--Governor Eugene Holiday will swear in the seven Ministers and Minister Plenipotentiary of the new National Alliance (NA)/Democratic Party (DP)/Independent-3 (I-3) coalition government at the Governor's Office today at 9:30am. I-3 comprises independent Members of Parliament Frans Richardson, Patrick Illidge and Romain Laville.
The ceremony also will feature the dismissal of the departing Ministers as required by the Constitution of St. Maarten.
The Governor received the final report of formateurs William Marlin (NA) and Sarah Wescot-Williams (DP) on Sunday. According to a press statement from the Governor's office issued last night, the vetting of the candidate Ministers, the candidate Minister Plenipotentiary and the Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary, carried out by Security Service St. Maarten and the Prosecutor's Office, has not produced any data that could impede their appointments.
The formateurs have nominated Sarah A. Wescot-Williams – Prime Minister, also Minister of General Affairs; William V. Marlin – Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure, also Deputy Prime Minister; Roland E. Duncan – Minister of Justice; Roland S. Tuitt – Minister of Finance; Silveria Jacobs – Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports; Van Hugh Cornelius de Weever – Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour; Romeo F. Pantophlet – Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication; Mathias S. Voges – Minister Plenipotentiary; and Henrietta Doran-York – Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary.
The Governor and the newly-appointed Ministers will have the constituting meeting in Dr. A.C. Wathey Legislative Hall in the Government Administration Building after the ceremony.
Newly-appointed Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary Doran-York will take the oath before the Governor on May 22.
The Governor expressed his appreciation for the way Marlin and Wescot-Williams had carried out their commission as formateurs.
