Life sentence for ousted Egyptian president

After 10 months of legal proceedings, the ousted Egyptian president on Saturday was sentenced to life imprisonment. Hosni Mubarak, who had pleaded not guilty, was accused of complicity in murder and premeditated murder of 846 protesters, killed by the security forces in the uprising during January - February 2011 that led to his resignation.

Mubarak and his two sons, Gamal and Alaa, were also tried for corruption and embezzlement of public funds but were acquitted by the court. Both men had tears in their eyes after reading the verdicts.
