Raided websites misleading the public:MCNS

The two raided news websites offices were continuously publishing false defamatory news about the country and misleading the public, a Media Centre for National security said in a statement.

A statement on the website of the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) noted that the two websites had continuously published false information targeting prominent people, with the objective of misguiding the general public.

The websites have not only discredited Sri Lanka but also misguided the international community, the MCNS charged.

The MCNS says the majority of websites have already been registered with the Ministry.

Nine detained following SL Mirror news web site office raid

Nine persons including the editor of the Sri Lanka Mirror, news web site were taken into custody by   CID officials who raided their office in Ethul Kotte this afternoon.

The security officers had entered the offices with a search warrant had first searched  the building, reporters at the scene said.

They had been looking for anti-Government literature.

Later nine  persons were taken into custody including the Editor of the web site and its reporters.
