No reports of damage or injuries from earthquake

PHILIPSBURG--There have been no reports of damage or injuries on St. Maarten or the surrounding islands as a result of an earthquake early Monday morning.

The tremor was just 52 kilometres (32 miles) East of Philipsburg, according to the United States-based National Earthquake Center.

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CEDEMA) also registered the earthquake as 4.7 on the Richter scale.

The early morning earthquake was one of several earthquakes recorded in the Caribbean and the rest of the world on Sunday.
