MAHO--The Maho Group raised US $52,840 for the St. Maarten AIDS Foundation through the second Stronger Together Red Ribbon campaign. Coupled with the previous year's donation of US $51,760 the Maho Group has raised a total of more than US $104,600.
As in the previous Stronger Together campaign, guests of Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino, Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort and Casino, and Royal Islander Club's La Terrasse and La Plage were invited to donate US $1 per room, per day voluntarily, which the Maho Group matched daily. This second annual fundraising event ran from December 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012.
"Our participation in the St. Maarten AIDS Foundation has continued to grow and we're thrilled that the latest Stronger Together campaign was such a grand success. We want to thank our visitors, residents and staff for helping us boost HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention on our island and once again exceed our target," said Maho Group President and CEO Saro Spadaro.
"As one of our most esteemed partners, The Maho Group has showcased incredible efforts and support on the mission towards HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, fortifying our community and inviting its visitors to join in on the cause," St. Maarten AIDS Foundation President Dr. Gerard van Osch said.
Stronger Together Red Ribbon funds will benefit the St. Maarten AIDS Foundation, which has been providing care, treatment and prevention since 1991. The programme returns at a significant time for the island, as the St. Maarten AIDS Foundation reports an increase this year in persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) needing assistance.
