No high for tipplers on Freedom Day

All wine stores and other liquor outlets through out the country will be closed tomorrow which marks Independence Day, a senior Excise official said a short while ago.

Excise Commissioner M.A�Hapuaarachchi told that a directive to this effect had already been dispatched to the relevant distributors and retail sellers.

However liquor outlets will be permitted to open the following day which is on Sunday (February 08) which also falls on Prophet Mohamed’s birthday, he added.
