Gas prices go up on Friday

PHILIPSBURG--Gasoline prices will be adjusted on Friday, February 11, to reflect increases across the board. According to government, the increases are due to the increase of the turnover tax (ToT) from three to five per cent, which also goes into effect on February 11, as well as continued increases in oil prices internationally.

With gasoline retailers and wholesalers having to pay the ToT on their margins, the ToT subsequently affects gas prices.

The new prices as of February 11 will be NAf. 2.17 per litre for unleaded gasoline, an increase of seven cents, and NAf. 1.98 per litre for diesel fuel, an increase of nine cents. The price for a 100-pound tank of LPG cooking gas will increase from NAf. 125 to NAf. 150. The price for a 20-pound LPG tank will increase from NAf. 35.60 to NAf. 45 per tank.

LPG bulk purchases also will increase, from NAf. 1.40 per pound to NAf. 1.60 per pound.
