Army gets into air ticketing business

The Sri Lanka Army has launched a ticketing agency where the public will be able to purchase air tickets for foreign travel, the Defence Ministry said today.

The agency office which was temporarily housed in the Army Headquarters today moved to a new location in Kew road Colombo 2, where the public will have easy access.
?The relocation of the new, 'Air Travel Services (Pvt) Ltd' beginning Monday (14) with a well trained staff, facilitates the general public to have easy access to the agency for purchase of their air tickets at affordable rates. Air Travel Services (Pvt) Ltd offers special holiday packages to China, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangkok, and specially organized pilgrimages to Dambadiwa, India?, the Defence ministry said.

The concept for the�establishment of�our own travel agency, was mooted by the Commander of the Army Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya taking into account�the large numbers of officers proceeding for overseas training courses, seminars, official assignments, etc as well as their family members, either accompanying them or otherwise, the Defence ministry added.
