Four year programme to fight Dengue

The cabinet has approved a project to be carried out by the Health Ministry to minimize dengue threat for the next four years under the purview of the Chief Epidemiologist, Paba Palihawadana.

 

The decision was taken as the death toll due to Dengue increased to 74  with  30 of these  deaths  reported from the Western Province.

 

 

So far 11,227 dengue cases have been reported so far and of them more than 50% has been from the Western Province.

 

Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala, Batticaloa, Kegalle, Puttalam and Ratnapura are considered as the high risk districts.
