A forest fire is currently raging inside a forest reserve at Riverstone in the Matala area and the damage is reported to be extensive, according to official;s with the Disaster Management Centre. The cause of the fire which began from early today is unknown while the airforce has been pressed into service in a bid to prevent the blaze from spreading, they said. On Friday a similar fire broke out at another forest reserve in the Walapane area in the Nuwara Eliya District. This fire was brought under comntrol in a short period of time, the officials added.
