Army Commander Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya on Saturday said taking part in the final event to mark the end of a joint training exercise involving armed forces personnel from overseas said that the Special Forces and Commandos will remain on standby to be delployed if the need arises.
Addressing the participants after the end of the event in Trincomalee he said that currently the soldiers are being trained on how to act under normal laws since the emergency regulations were withdrawn.
He said that in future if the police require the deployment of the armed forces, they would need to make a written request.
