MAHO--Visitors to the island saw a man's body floating in the water off the shore of The Royal Islander in Maho on Sunday around 10:00am. Up to press time the body, which appeared to be that of a man of Asian descent, remained unidentified.
The body was brought ashore by onlookers as police and ambulance workers rushed to the scene. Paramedics attempted to revive the man, but to no avail.
The Detective Department was notified of the situation and went to the scene to investigate. A doctor pronounced the victim's death around 10:55am and reported that he had died of drowning. No signs of foul play were found during the investigation by detectives and the Forensic Department.
The man appeared to be between 25 and 30 years of age, measuring approximately 1.8 metres in height and was of slim build with short black hair.
