PHILIPSBURG--One of the suspects involved in the Hollywood Casino robbery on April 25 is still at large, according to a press release from police spokesman Inspector Ricardo Henson.
The suspect was dressed completely in dark clothing and had his face covered. After jumping over the counter, he took money from the "cash out" and ran out the back of the casino, fleeing in a white Kia Picanto. "The car in question has been confiscated for further investigation, which is being done by the Special Robbery Unit," Henson said.
The suspects arrested in the armed robberies at Man Chung Supermarket and Ho Supermarket on April 25 have been identified as R.M., J.M. and J.F., Henson reported. At least one of the suspects had a gun.
Both supermarkets were robbed at gunpoint, after which the suspects fled toward Prins Willem Alexander Primary School and hid in a house near the school. The gun, clothing, masks and money were found and confiscated during a search of the premises. The suspects were taken into police custody for further investigation by the Special Robbery Unit, Henson said.
The police were kept very busy on Wednesday, according to Henson, when a police patrol was directed to Victoria's Mini Grocery for an attempted robbery around 11:30am. At the scene, owner of the establishment A.L. stated that three young men dressed in all dark clothing and caps had entered the establishment with the intention of committing a robbery.
They attacked the owner and he wrestled with them until they ran away, Henson said. They did not succeed in taking anything. The Detective Department is investigating this case, Henson concluded.
