~ At Cole Bay Youth Foundation Christmas party ~
COLE BAY--Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus came all the way from the North Pole to distribute gifts to scores of children in Cole Bay, on Sunday.
Santa dropped in at the Cole Bay Youth Foundation's annual Christmas Party for children. Upon his arrival, Santa danced around the large marquee at Port de Plaisance, where the party was held, with a large throng of children and parents dancing behind.
There were a number of fun and exciting activities for children such as face painting and bouncing castles and treats such as popcorn, cakes, candy and McDonalds.
Cole Bay Youth Foundation representative Diveltah Wilson said the foundation, founded by her mother, Chantal Wilson, has been organising the party since 2009. She said it is the foundation's way of giving back to the community of Cole Bay and to help spread some Christmas cheer to some children whose parents might not be able to afford to show them a good Christmas.
She said many parents are unable to treat their children and the foundation wanted to spread cheer to this group as well as other children in the Cole Bay community.
Gifts remaining from the party would be distributed to homes in Cole Bay on Christmas morning. The party was sponsored by Port de Plaisance, Ranger Security and the St. Maarten Timeshare Association (SMTA).
The foundation has held several activities since being established, including a recent Thanksgiving dinner to help raise funds for Sunday's well-attended Christmas party.
