PHILIPSBURG--Project Manager for Country St. Maarten/Former Lt. Governor Dennis Richardson (64) was approved on Friday by the Kingdom Council of Ministers as a member of the Council of State, the highest counselling body of the kingdom.
Richardson was nominated by St. Maarten as its representative. He will be the island's first representative on the Council as the island became eligible to serve on the council after attaining country within the kingdom status as of October 10, 2010.
Richardson was Lt. Governor of St. Maarten from 1994 to 2000. He has worked for the past years as the Project Manager for Country St. Maarten with his main focus being the realisation of country status.
Queen Beatrix is the chairwoman of the Council of State, but the actual leadership is in hands of the vice-president Herman Tjeenk-Willink.
