Ceremony cancelled as Yemeni president refuses to sign GCC deal

The Gulf Cooperation Council stated on Sunday that a ceremony to finalze a Yemeni deal ending three months of protests against the regime has been cancelled after President Ali Abdullah Saleh refused to sign. "The ceremony that was supposed to be held (Sunday)... will not take place," said the press office of GCC secretary general Abdullatif al-Zayani.

A delegation from Saleh's ruling General People's Congress party and the opposition Common Forum coalition had been expected to leave to the Saudi capital on Sunday to sign the pact in the presence of GCC foreign ministers.
