Duminda under watch for 48 hours

UPFA Colombo District MP Duminda Silva is being kept under watch for a 48 period after under going surgery, medical sources said.

The surgery was carried out on Saturday night where two bullets were removed and a third remained lodged in the skull.

Director of Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital, Dr. S.A.K Gamage said earlier that on Saturday the surgeons were able to stop the internal bleeding “but it’s difficult determine whether there is brain damage. He is presently on life support,” he said.

The three-hour surgery was done by a team led by two neuro-surgeons attached to the Sri Jayawardena Hospital and National Hospital, Colombo.

“Brain surgeries are complex surgeries and it’s difficult to determine the patient’s recovery just after the surgery,” he said.
