Man shot in leg in daytime drive-by

page1a285DUTCH QUARTER--Several police patrols and detectives were directed to Dutch Quarter for a shooting incident on Wednesday, April 20, at approximately 3:00pm, in which the victim was shot twice in his left leg.

The suspect opened fire on his victim, reportedly from a grey Ford Expedition SUV in Dutch Quarter on Wednesday around 3:15pm. After discharging several rounds, the suspect reportedly fled to Oyster Pond where the vehicle was set ablaze.

The victim was treated on the scene and then transported to St. Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. His wounds were not fatal.

The perpetrator escaped successfully and had not been arrested up until press time. The police have launched their investigation and are looking into whether this shooting is connected to any recent cases. However, the Police Force could not confirm such a connection up to press time because the investigation was in its preliminary stage.
