A man who showed a toy pistol and robbed Rs 1.2 million from a private bank in Katugastota on Friday was apprehended by members of the public as he attempted to getaway.
The man had entered the back and pointed the pistol at the Bank Manager’s head and demanded the money.
After securing the loot he was attempting to runaway when people who were outside the building had caught him and handed him over to the Police.
It was later found the pistol was a bogus one.
