20 Lankan fishermen to be freed

A group of 20 Sri Lankan fishermen are set to be released by the Indian authorities sometime later tomorrow, officials said.

They said the group will be handed over to the navy by the Indian Coast Guard off the coast if Mannar.

Some five vessels belonging to the group will also be released, the officials said.

The group is believed to have been taken into custody by the Indian authorities several months ago after they had strayed into the territorial waters of that country, the officials added.
